In the article, on the basis of the development of normative and legal provisions on issues of higher education and
physical culture and sports and numerous specialized literary sources, the definition of the concepts «system of higher
education in the field of physical culture and sports», «institution of higher education in the field of physical culture
and sports» was formed , «state management of higher education in the field of physical culture and sports», as well
as the goals of the latter. Amplification of the categorical apparatus of state management of higher education in the
field of physical culture and sports made it possible to clearly form not only its thesaurus, but also its goals and to give
further research an institutional and purposeful character. This approach will ensure consideration of all management
requests of all institutes of the higher education system in the field of physical culture and sports, and therefore increase
the efficiency of state management of higher education in the field of physical culture and sports.
